Director John Carney’s 2007 intimate film Once stars The Frames frontman Glen Hansard and classically trained pianist Markéta Irglová in a guy-meets-girl love story, told largely through song.

Hansard and Irglová first happened upon one another when The Frames were touring the Czech Republic. Together they recorded an album in Prague, The Swell Season, released in April 2006.

The album’s haunting songs contributed hugely to the staggering success of Once, a love story set on the streets of Dublin.

This beautiful film won the audience award at Sundance in 2007 and a 2008 Academy Award® (Best Original Song) for ‘Falling Slowly’.

Hansard and Irglová will be joined on stage by The Frames to perform songs from the film and more.

Hansard and Irglová will also introduce the film Once as part of Festival Flicks.

Their concert on the first night just blew me away and they were such nice and obliging people when they appeared at the Spiegeltent today. The cream of the Festival's talent! If you've got tickets don't you DARE let them go to waste.
